Municipal Government

CITY COUNCIL

The City Council is the governing body of the city and consists of eight council members

who are elected by wards. The Mayor appoints the President Protem from among the

Council members following the mayoral election. The Mayor presides over all Council

meetings and acts as the City Official designated to represent the city in agreements with

other entities, but has no voting duties except as required to break a tie among Council.


COUNCIL MEETINGS

The City Council holds its meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at

City Hall. The regular meetings are open to the public and minutes are available generally

within 72 hours after the meeting from the City Clerk. Meeting agendas are posted at least

24 hours prior to the meeting on the City Hall bulletin board. If you wish to be recognized

and speek on any matter at Council, we ask that you notify the Clerk to be added to the

agenda. Matters related to personell will be heard in closed session following regular

council.
