Building & Construction

1. Complete Building Permit Application
2. Submit Building Plans with completed Application
3. Ensure all contractors involved are licensed in Carterville

After the application and plans are submitted, allow 3-5 business days for the Building Inspector to approve.  The Building Inspector may contact you with questions or concerns before approving.

Once approved and all businesses listed on the permit have a Business License, you will be contacted by City Hall to pay the permit fee.

Permit Number must be displayed until work is completed.

Email collector@cartervillemo.com for any inspection request.  The email must include the correct address and what needs to be inspected.  The Building Inspector will then complete the inspection within 24 Business hours.  He will only inspect what was requested in the email.

A $50 Re-Inspection fee is required per failed inspection.

When the final building inspection is complete, Code Enforcement will come by for a final inspection to ensure the rest of the work on the property is up to city code.  Then a Certificate of Occupancy will be issued.
